Pluralism, the EU, and the European Perspective of the Western Balkans
You are cordially invited to the 32nd European Academic Forum organised by the Jean Monnet Chair of the New University, dedicated to Pluralism, the EU, and the European Perspective of the Western Balkans As the countries of the Western Balkans continue their complex journey toward the European Union, the region stands at a crossroads shaped by both progress and persistent challenges. Pluralism—a cornerstone of democratic societies—is increasingly tested by rising polarization, political fragmentation, and the spillover effects of global tensions. While the EU provides a framework for cooperation, reform, and shared values, the region grapples with the effects of polarization, political tensions, frail rule of law and external influences that threaten to undermine its European aspirations.
